The airline announced that, as a temporary measure, all Enugu flights will now be rerouted through Asaba Airport to allow necessary repairs by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
One of Nigeria’s major airlines, Air Peace, has suspended all flight operations to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, citing concerns over the safety of the runway.
In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, the airline said the suspension is necessary to protect its passengers and aircraft, and to allow room for runway repairs by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
“Dear Esteemed Passenger, we regret to inform you that all flights scheduled to Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu are temporarily suspended due to safety concerns of the Enugu airport runway,” the statement reads.

“The situation of the Enugu runway has been causing major disruptions to Air Peace flights, hence the decision to temporarily suspend further flights into this airport until further notice,” the airline added.
It further stated: “At Air Peace, we prioritize Safety first over convenience. We believe that if flights are not operated into this aerodrome for the next few days, it will allow FAAN the opportunity to perform the necessary repairs on the runway.”
