Airfares Hikes Up As Domestic Flights Resume Wednesday

There has been a significant increase in airfares as domestic flights set to resume on July 7, Wednesday.

Following the Federal Government’s directive on resumption of domestic flight operations in the country, with effect from July 8, after several months of closure due to COVID-19 outbreak, it has been revealed that most airlines have increased their airfares.

The increase in airfares is applicable to all classes of tickets.

Dana Air on Economy class goes for a discount of N33,000 for a one way Lagos-Abuja flight, while the Economy Flexible Plan goes for N70,500.

Air Peace Economy-Flexi Domestic Plan sold for N33,001 for a one way Lagos to Abuja flight, while its business class ticket sold for N80,000.

Several other airlines increased their airfares as against the previous price.

Prior to COVID-19 lockdown, Economy ticket sold for as low as N15,000 and as high as N40,000 for one-hour flight.
