  • Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a lawsuit against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan over a satirical apology post.

Akpabio seeks a court order to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to take down the post and publish a formal apology in national newspapers.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a new lawsuit against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, accusing her of mocking him with a satirical apology post on social media.

The suit, registered as case number CS/384/25, was filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Akpabio is seeking a court order to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to take down the viral post from all her social media platforms and publish a formal written apology in at least two national newspapers.

The post in question was made on April 27 via Akpoti-Uduaghan’s official Facebook page, where she sarcastically “apologized” for maintaining dignity and self-respect in the Senate.

Akpabio’s legal team, led by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Kehinde Ogunwumiju, argued that the post violated a court order prohibiting both parties from making public comments on the ongoing case. Akpabio is also demanding an affidavit confirming Akpoti-Uduaghan’s compliance.

The legal dispute between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan traces back to a heated exchange in February over seating arrangements in the Senate chamber, which ultimately led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension in March after she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment.
