The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested seven individuals in connection with a string of burglaries and thefts in Ifa Atai Village, located within the Uyo metropolis.
This development was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, who confirmed that the arrests followed credible intelligence received by the command.
According to the statement, the police apprehended a male suspect on Wednesday, May 21, at around 8 a.m.

The suspect, originally from Esuk Mba Village in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State but residing in Ibiaku Ishiet Village, Uruan LGA, allegedly confessed during interrogation to participating in a series of break-ins in Ifa Atai and its surrounding areas.
He also claimed to be a member of the Mafia secret cult and provided information that led to the arrest of six additional suspects believed to be receivers of the stolen goods.
A search of the suspects’ residences reportedly led to the recovery of several stolen items, including a generator, multiple iron rods, eight solar batteries, as well as quantities of nails and binding wires.
The PPRO noted that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang and assured the public of the command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arraigned five individuals before a Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly hacking into the server of Premium Trust Bank.
The defendants include the bank’s e-payment service manager, Matthew Adeniyi; a nursing mother, Kehinde Odeyemi; along with Samson Latshin, Bolaji Omotosho, and Sunday Okunnola.
