Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has presented a N1.39 trillion 2026 Budget to the State House of Assembly, with a major focus on capital projects and infrastructure aimed at improving development across the state.
The proposed budget for the 2026 financial year in Akwa Ibom State stands at N1,390,000,000,000, with the government committing the bulk of the funds to development projects.

Out of the total amount, N354.867 billion (25%) is earmarked for recurrent spending, while N1.035 trillion (75%) is dedicated to capital expenditure. Governor Pastor Umo Eno presented the figures to the House of Assembly, describing the proposal as the “People’s Budget of Expansion and Growth.”

The governor said the new estimates reflect inputs gathered from citizens during his Town Square engagements and explained that the figures show a drop of N260 billion from the revised 2025 budget.
He appealed to lawmakers to give the proposal speedy consideration, stressing that the budget is aligned with the administration’s developmental expectations.
“I urge you to pass this budget quickly so we can continue to serve our people,” Governor Eno said.
Key capital provisions include N387.5 billion for roads and infrastructure, N31.6 billion for education, and N136.1 billion for health, while government spending is expected to stimulate the economy and accelerate projects across the state.
The governor acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the subsidy reforms, saying it has enabled states to channel more resources into infrastructure. He added that the 2026 budget will drive the ARISE Agenda, focusing on agriculture, food production and rural income.

According to him, 69,107 farmers have already benefited from agricultural initiatives and equipment distribution, while the incoming Palm Tree Revolution Programme will support thousands more and generate long-term economic value for rural communities.
The capital receipts for 2026 are projected at N1.035 trillion, with N791.978 billion expected from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and N243.155 billion from other sources. The governor assured that the Commissioner for Budget will provide the breakdown of individual projects.
Speaker of the House, Elder Udeme Otong, commended the presentation and praised the governor for aligning the budget with the state’s long-term development goals.
