Residents of Kaduna metropolis witnessed a sudden spread of political posters featuring former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, a development that has renewed conversations about early positioning ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The A2-sized posters, which surfaced overnight in several parts of the city, presented Amaechi as a leading opposition figure. They carried inscriptions such as “the only person to be trusted” and “the only man for the job,” alongside messages promoting unity, equality, stability and development.

The materials were displayed along key routes, including Ahmadu Bello Way, Ali Akilu Way, areas surrounding the Kaduna State Government House, and the busy Kawo Bridge corridor leading to Zaria. Their appearance attracted public attention, with motorists and pedestrians pausing to observe the displays, briefly slowing traffic in some areas.
Amaechi, who holds the traditional title of Dan Amanan Kasar Hausa of Daura, has an extensive political background. He previously served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State, and later as Minister of Transportation between 2015 and 2023.
Political observers in Kaduna view the poster campaign as a move by supporters to assess northern political receptiveness, given the region’s strategic importance in presidential elections.
Although the former Rivers State governor has not made any formal declaration, the posters have intensified public discussion about a possible return to the presidential race and a potential opposition contest in 2027.
Amaechi contested the 2022 APC presidential primary, where he placed second behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, finishing ahead of former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
