AMVCA 2025: ‘Seven Doors’ ‘Lisabi’, ‘Skeleton Coast’ Lead Nominations, See Full List

AMVCA releases a list of nominees, Seven Doors tops the list with 11 nominations.

The award ceremony will be held on 10th May as the voting window closes on 4th May.

The organizers of the 11th edition of Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) have officially unveiled their nominees for the 2025 award categories.

The award designed to celebrate outstanding productions in film, television, and digital content recognises productions released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

This year’s list sees fierce competition among captivating top leads such as “Seven Doors”, “Lisabi: The Uprising”, “Skeleton Coast”, “House of Ga’a” and “Freedom Way”.

According to the list announced by Dr. Busola Tejumola, MultiChoice’s Executive Head of Content and Channels (West Africa), Femi Adebayo’s “Seven Doors” dominates the list with 11 nominations, Niyi Akinmolaya’s “Lisabi: The Uprising” closely sits at the second with 10 nominations, “Skeleton Coast”, directed by Robert Peters bagged eight nominations. Also worthy of note is “Christmas in Lagos,” directed by Jade Osiberu, which earned six nominations.

Top contenders for the Best Lead Actress award includes Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre), and Uche Montana (Thinline) while Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Stan Nze (Suspicion), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising) are fierce nominees for the Best Lead Actor.

The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 10th of May, 2025. Consequently, voting will be open until May 4, 2025, through the Africa Magic website.

This year’s award has 27 award categories, of which 18 categories will be specifically decided by a jury while 9 will be subjected to public voting. Also, parts of the categories are two special honours: the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards.
