Romelu Lukaku returned to Chelsea, after Inter Milan accepted $135 million from the European champions for their Belgian star. Inter won the Serie A title, and the 28-year-old Superstar was the Italian champions’ MVP last season.

More information about the contract
A long-term contract for $14 million-plus add-ons awaits at Stamford Bridge, with the former Manchester United man rejoining the Blues after his 2014 exit. The paperwork is yet to be signed, and it will include no players in the deal, but Chelsea will land the prolific Lukaku to solve their striker search.

For Inter, there are more questions over the direction of their project with Lautaro Martinez also attracting interest and yet to sign a contract extension at Giuseppe Meazza.

Chelsea is ready to close the deal
Other news previously stated that Chelsea is ready to close a deal for Lukaku before the end of the week. The Blues are close to sealing a cash-only swoop for the forward, who bagged 30 goals and ten assists in 44 appearances for the Serie A outfit last season.

On Wednesday, there were hopes of the former Manchester United man being available for the Blues’ UEFA Super Cup clash against Villarreal.

What has been said about the deal?
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel refused to be drawn into talks of Lukaku’s return, saying: “I will not talk about players who don’t play in my squad. “He’s a fantastic player, but he’s an Inter player, and I will not talk about him in this situation.” Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello confirmed earlier this week, said his client’s future will be known soon.
Saying, “You’ll be able to listen to our reasons soon. However, this turns out.”

‘Nothing but love for the Blue’, said Lukaku.
In February, Lukaku Commented on his first spell at Chelsea. “Nothing but love; he said. To have allowed him to come to the Premier League as a kid. He said you couldn’t have everything in life, and he is cool with that. He is also glad that the experience got him to where he is today.

What does Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano have to say?
Among a host of sources, Fabrizio Romano claims that Chelsea is close to finalizing Lukaku’s return. Writing on Twitter, Romano said in his tweets, “Romelu Lukaku is now one step away from joining Chelsea. Inter and Chelsea are close to reaching the agreement for €115m as the final fee [no player included, at the moment]. “Lukaku has an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea. €12m net per season as salary.”

Lukaku’s goal record from 2014- to date
Lukaku has scored 87 goals in 166 games for Everton between 2014 and 2017. He also found the net 42 times in 96 appearances during his two years at Manchester United before signing for Inter in 2019. In Serie A last season, he scored 24 goals, helping Inter in their ranking.

Chelsea’s other transfer interests
Chelsea is excited to sign Lukaku, a world-class center-forward. Secondly, Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund, was said to be a transfer target for the Blues.
