Relief washed over the medical community in Anambra State as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) announced the end of their strike, which was sparked by the kidnapping of one Dr Stephen Ezeh.

The strike, which began as a protest against the abduction, has been called off following Ezeh’s release from captivity on Saturday, August 24.

In a statement signed by Dr Princeston Okam and Dr Ifeanyi Obiaeli, Chairman and Secretary of the NMA Anambra Branch respectively, the association thanked the people of Anambra for their understanding and support during the trying times.

With the strike now lifted, clinical services resumed on Sunday, August 25, at 8:00 am.

The NMA urged its members to remain steadfast in their commitment to delivering quality healthcare to the people of Anambra, despite the challenges facing the sector.

As the medical community breathes a sigh of relief, they also pray that such tribulations will not arise again in the future.
