On Sunday morning, a five-storey commercial building collapsed on Garden Street Fegge, Onitsha, Anambra State.
The development came less than two weeks after a building collapse at the Oduigbo section of the Ochanja market.
Chike Mmaduekwe, the Chairman of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board revealed that the collapse was partial and no lives were lost.
Mmaduekwe also disclosed that the original approval was for a three-storey building, but the developer deviated from the plan and began constructing a five-storey building.

He added that an excavator has already been deployed to the site to clear the rubble and potentially rescue any trapped victims.
Meanwhile, Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State had previously warned developers to obtain approvals from relevant authorities before construction and adhere to construction terms to prevent loss of life and resources.
Soludo, therefore, ordered the demolition of all unauthorized buildings in the state.
