A petroleum tanker has fallen in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, causing concern among residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 11am on Sunday at Tose area in Moniya, Akinyele local government area.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident, stating that the agency’s control room received the report at exactly 11:11hrs on Sunday.

“On arrival, all necessary action was taken by blanketing the spillage with chemical compound to neutralize the flammability of the content,” Akinyinka said.

The Fire Service personnel worked to prevent any potential fire hazard, while policemen were also on the scene to prevent members of the public from scooping fuel.

“The Nigerian police are also on ground to curb the illegality of the public scooping the petrol. The agency’s personnel are still on standby,” Akinyinka added.
