Islamic groups in Kano State on Saturday staged a protest against recent moves by United States President, Donald Trump, to intervene in Nigeria’s internal security crisis.

The demonstrators, who gathered across major streets in Kano, denounced Trump’s allegation of a Christian genocide and his threat of possible military action against Nigeria.

They carried placards with inscriptions such as “We condemn Trump’s threat to attack Nigeria,” “There is no Christian genocide in Nigeria,” and “America wants to control our resources.”

The protest came after President Trump recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged persecution of Christians and warned of U.S. military intervention if the killings continued.

The Nigerian government has since dismissed the allegation as false and misleading, insisting that no religious genocide is taking place in the country.
