Napoli manager Antonio Conte has issued an apology to fans after his tenure began with a disappointing 3-0 loss to Hellas Verona. Conte, who took charge of the Serie A club this summer following their poor 10th-place finish last season, signed a three-year contract to return to coaching after a year-long break.
Napoli started the match strongly, but momentum shifted when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia left the field due to injury. Verona capitalized, with Dailon Livramento opening the scoring and Daniel Mosquera adding two more goals to secure the win.
In a post-match interview with Sky Italia, Antonio Conte expressed his regret: “In the first half, we were the dominant side, and Verona barely had a chance. But in the second half, we faltered. We conceded early and then completely collapsed. I must apologize to our passionate supporters in Naples. As the coach, I take full responsibility for this unacceptable performance. It’s clear we have a lot of work to do in every area. I came to Napoli with enthusiasm and determination, and I’m committed to helping this team improve.”
