Calls for new political coalition to rescue Nigeria
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised the All Progressives Congress (APC)–led administration, describing it as the worst government he has experienced in nearly 40 years of political engagement.
Atiku made the remarks on Tuesday in Abuja during the public presentation of The Loyalist, a book written by Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The former Vice President praised the ADC, describing it as a unifying political platform capable of bringing together Nigerians from diverse ideological backgrounds.
“We have a unique opportunity within the ADC as a political party. It is a convergence of various political leanings across the country, united by the desire to reunite Nigeria and renew our democratic journey,” Atiku said.
Speaking further, Atiku lamented the state of governance under the APC, noting that the administration has inflicted deep damage on the nation.

“If there is anything positive in our recent political development, it is this coming together to rescue the country from what I consider the worst administration I have witnessed in nearly four decades,” he said.
“Not even the military regimes before 1999 damaged our national life and consciousness in the way this administration has done,” Atiku added.
He observed that many of those present at the event were founding members of the APC who had become disillusioned with its performance in government.
“Many of us here were part of the formation of the APC. Unfortunately, what we believed would rescue the country has not happened,” he stated.
Atiku urged Nigerians to once again take responsibility by mobilising around a credible political alternative capable of delivering good governance.
“Just as we once came together to form a political alternative, we must again unite to ensure the emergence of a new political organisation that can salvage this country for the benefit of its people,” he said.
