The summit was organised by the APC National Chairman’s Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation, Professor Tai Balofin, with a focus on economic development, political engagement, and Diaspora participation in Nigeria’s progress.
Addressing participants, the APC chairman urged party members in the United States and other countries to work together, stressing that unity remains the party’s strongest asset both at home and abroad.
“Unity is our greatest strength. When we stand together, we not only strengthen the APC but also present Nigeria as a serious and organised nation on the global stage,” Yilwatda said.
He encouraged Diaspora members to make proper use of the Office of the Special Adviser on Diaspora Matters as the official platform for resolving party-related issues, noting that the Diaspora plays a critical role in Nigeria’s socio-economic growth and political stability.
Professor Yilwatda also commended APC USA for resolving past internal disagreements and presenting a united front, describing the move as a positive signal that boosts the party’s credibility within the international community.
Reaffirming the appointment of Professor Tai Balofin as Special Adviser on Diaspora Coordination and Mobilisation, the APC chairman stated that his mandate covers worldwide engagement and strengthening party structures abroad.
He further urged APC members in the United States and other countries to collaborate fully with Professor Balofin, stressing that the APC Diaspora structure is constitutionally recognised and has never been dissolved.
According to him, groups previously operating outside the recognised party framework should realign with the official APC Diaspora structure in the interest of unity, stability, and progress.
The APC National Chairman also expressed appreciation to distinguished participants at the summit, including Nigeria’s Consul General in New York, Ambassador Abubakar Jidda; Acting Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations, Ambassador Syndoph Endoni; Founder of Women Leaders Support Advancement, Deborah Jan Hornecker; and the Mayor of Linden, New Jersey, Derek Armstead, among other stakeholders.
