Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of Borno state, has denied endorsing the Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, George Akume, for the position.

The aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairmanship, described the reports of him endorsing Akume for the position as false.

In a statement by his Deputy Campaign Director, Cairo Ojougboh, Sheriff said: “Our attention has been drawn to a report that the Ali Modu Sheriff Campaign Organisation has joined forces with Malam Isa Yuguda Support Organisation to support the candidacy of George Akume for APC National Chairman.

“The report is fake and should not be regarded, it is nothing but a figment of the imagination of those who planted it.
