The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party with immediate effect.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Felix Morka, disclosed this in a statement signed on Friday, stating that Ganduje voluntarily stepped down to attend to “urgent and important personal matters.”
The statement reads:“The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to announce the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, as the National Chairman of our great Party. His resignation, which is effective immediately, was offered to enable him attend to urgent and important personal matters.”

In the resignation letter addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, Ganduje expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve the party at the highest level.
Following Ganduje’s exit, President Tinubu has directed the Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the position of Acting National Chairman, pending the emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to appoint a substantive replacement.
Dr. Ganduje, who assumed office in August 2023, was commended by the party for his efforts in promoting unity, strengthening internal democracy, and increasing the APC’s electoral strength across the country.
Mr. Morka further stated that Ganduje leaves with “great pride” in the party’s collective achievements under his leadership, including “successful defections from opposition parties and legal affirmations of the APC’s legitimacy.”

The APC assured its members that the party remains unshaken in its mission to deliver transformative governance, in line with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu.
The statement added by thanking Ganduje for his “invaluable contributions and distinguished record of service” while praying for his continued good health and success in future endeavours.
