Meseko explained that the two disqualified aspirants failed to meet key requirements of the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended).

“The NWC has carefully reviewed all screening reports and found that two aspirants did not comply with the set guidelines for participation,” he said, adding that efforts to reach the affected individuals for comment proved unsuccessful.

The APC primary election is slated for October 27, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the governorship election for July 20, 2026.

Meseko also announced plans to inaugurate a party reconciliation committee to be chaired by Chief Bisi Akande, the APC’s pioneer national chairman.

In a related development, the NWC has dissolved the APC executive committee in Enugu State, a move sources within the party describe as a strategic effort to restructure the state chapter ahead of the anticipated defection of Governor Peter Mbah from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
