The All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected a new set of national executives at its National Convention held at Eagle Square in Abuja, with Professor Nentawe Yilwatda emerging as the new National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party.
The convention, held on Friday night, brought together party leaders, delegates, and members from across the country to elect new officials who will oversee the affairs of the APC national leadership.

At the centre of the new leadership structure is Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who was elected to lead the party as National Chairman.
He will be supported by two Deputy National Chairmen, representing the northern and southern regions of the country.
Ali Bukar Dalori emerged as Deputy National Chairman (North), while Dr. Benjamin Obi Nwoye was elected as Deputy National Chairman (South).
Former Senate spokesperson Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru also secured a key position after emerging as the National Secretary of the party.
He will work alongside Prof. AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana, who was elected as the Deputy National Secretary.
Several other important national positions were also filled during the convention.
Among them, Murtala Aliyu Kankia was elected as National Legal Adviser, while Uguru Mathew Ofoke emerged as the National Treasurer.
Ambassador Haruna Ginsau was elected as the National Financial Secretary, and Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu took the position of National Organising Secretary.
The convention also saw Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa emerge as the National Welfare Secretary.
Meanwhile, Felix Morka retained his position as National Publicity Secretary, continuing his role as the spokesperson of the party at the national level.
Senator Abubakar Maikafi was elected as the National Auditor.
In other leadership positions, Dr Mary A. Idele emerged as the National Women Leader, while Dayo Isreal was elected as the National Youth Leader.
The position of National Leader for Persons with Disabilities was filled by Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole.
The convention also produced several deputy national officers to support the party’s leadership structure.
Among them are Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo as Deputy National Financial Secretary, Barrister Emeka Okafor as Deputy National Organising Secretary, and Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim as Deputy National Women Leader.
Others include Hon. Meseko Durosinmi Josiah as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Dr Christopher Michael Akpan as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Mr Olugbenga Olayemi as Deputy National Auditor.
Additional appointments include Barrister Ibrahim Salawu as Deputy National Legal Adviser, Engr. Ben Akak as Deputy National Treasurer, and Jamaludeen Kabiru as Deputy National Youth Leader.
The convention also produced National Ex-officio members representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
They include Dr Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon. Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon Bunmi Orinowo (South West).
The election of the new leadership is expected to shape the APC’s internal structure and political strategy ahead of upcoming political activities and national elections.
