The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has suspended its long-standing demand for the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party, just days before the crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

This decision marks a significant shift in the forum’s approach, which has previously included protests and legal action against Ganduje’s appointment.

Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, Chairman of the North Central APC Forum, stated, “Our activism is based on our feelings that the national chairman should have been retained in the North Central zone after the exit of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu.”

However, he emphasized that their opposition is not personal, adding, “Let it be on record that we do not have personal issues against the person of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; he is our national chairman.”

The forum, which has been vocal about the perceived marginalization of the North Central region, initially initiated legal proceedings to contest Ganduje’s appointment following Adamu’s resignation in 2023.

However, Zazzaga acknowledged the NEC’s authority in such matters and expressed hope for constructive dialogue, stating, “We have come to agreement that the NEC has all the powers to make decisions for our party.”

This development aims to foster unity within the party, particularly as it gears up for the 2027 general elections. Zazzaga highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and reconciliation efforts, affirming, “Our commitment to the overall progress of the party and its leadership is paramount.”
