Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in the North insisted on the ruling party to present a Southern presidential candidate for the 2023 general election.
The shortlisting of the five Southern aspirants followed the speculated pronouncement of Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as consensus candidate by the APC National Chairman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi on Monday.
Adamu’s announcement caused uproar among the National Working Committee, as well as within governors and leaders of the ruling party.
Also, President Muhammadu Buhari distanced himself from Adamu’s comment, insisting that the former lawmaker was on is own.
The All Progressive Congress will conduct primary elections to produce a presidential candidate to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 general elections on Tuesday, June 7.
