He expressed confidence in the council’s leadership under AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who serves as chairman. Governors Hope Uzodimma, Mai Mala Buni, and Mohammed Umar Bago were named co-chairmen of the council.

Yilwatda dismissed reported campaigns by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi for candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing their efforts as inconsequential.

He maintained that the APC’s mobilisation strategy is deeply rooted at the grassroots and spans all regions of the country.

In his remarks, AbdulRazaq described the assignment as both a responsibility and an opportunity to deepen democratic dividends for FCT residents. He stressed that the campaign would focus on strategic mobilisation and genuine grassroots engagement.

The inauguration featured representatives from all six geopolitical zones, reflecting Abuja’s diverse population and the party’s strategy to ensure inclusive outreach across communities.
