Iyabo Obasanjo has said she was neither pressured nor persuaded to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting she left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because she felt betrayed and uncomfortable in the party.

The daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo explained that her decision to join the APC followed personal reflection, stressing that the ruling party never approached her.

She said she remained in the PDP for years because of her father’s political position at the time but eventually left after feeling ignored by party leaders.
Obasanjo also criticised the PDP leadership, saying the party only contacted her during elections and failed to value her contributions.
She insisted she would never return to the PDP, stressing that politics should be about caring for people rather than using them for electoral advantage.
