In a letter dated February 17, 2026, and addressed to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the APC formally notified the electoral body of the postponement, assuring that a fresh date would be communicated in due course.
The letter was jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and National Secretary, Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru. INEC acknowledged receipt of the notice on the same date.
The development has since generated reactions across political circles, with observers linking the postponement to ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 political season.
