Ose LGA has been plagued by a spate of kidnappings and violent attacks in recent years. In February, seven people were abducted along the Benin-Owo-Akure road, and in November 2020, the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adeusi, was shot dead by suspected kidnappers in the same area.
Despite efforts by security agencies, kidnapping for ransom continues to escalate across many parts of Nigeria, raising concerns about safety in rural and highway communities.
