Announcing the result on Sunday, the returning officer for Kano Municipal, Ibrahim Tajo Sirajo, declared Aliyu Nabil Daneji of the APC as the winner.
According to him, the APC candidate polled 7,484 votes, defeating his closest rival, Action Democratic Party (ADP)candidate Abdullahi Mohammad, who scored 31 votes.
Similarly, the INEC returning officer for Ungogo constituency, Ali Tijjani Abdullahi, declared Aminu Sa’ad Sa’ad of the APC as winner of the election.
Sa’ad polled 8,975 votes, defeating eight other candidates to emerge victorious.
INEC results showed that Shaabu Hamisu of the ADP scored 54 votes, while Adamu Aishatu of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) secured 51 votes.
INEC attributed the low turnout recorded during the by-elections to the ongoing Ramadan fasting period.
The Kano Resident Electoral Commissioner, Abdu Zango, disclosed this while speaking to journalists at Kankarfi Wardin Kano Municipal during the exercise.
He said the commission was satisfied with the performance of electoral materials and the level of security deployed across polling units.
Reacting to questions on the absence of major opposition parties on the ballot, the INEC REC stated that the commission could not be held responsible for the internal decisions of political parties.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Ibrahim Bakori, said adequate deployment of officers and tactical units ensured a peaceful and smooth conduct of the elections.
