The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Bassey Otu, has been declared winner of the Cross Rivers governorship election held last Saturday.
Otu polled a total of 258,619 votes ahead of Senator Sandy Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party, who garnered 179,636 votes.
The APC candidate won in 15 out of the 18 local government areas while the PDP won in 3.

Declaring Otu winner, the state Returning Officer and the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Otuoke, Teddy Adias said, “That Otu Bassey Edet, having got the maximum number of valid votes and having met the requirements of the law is hereby declared elected.”
Babagana Zulum Wins Bauchi Governorship Election
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has been declared winner Saturday’s governorship election in Borno State.
The incumbent governor, who is of the All Progressives Congress, secured a second term with a landslide victory according to results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Zulum polled 545,543 votes to defeat Mohammed Ali Jajari of the PDP, who scored a meagre 82,147 votes.
The state’s Governorship and State Assembly Election Returning Officer, Prof Jude Tsammani Rabo, said Zulum scored the highest number of votes and secured a quarter of the votes cast in each of the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Rabo certified Zulum to have satisfied all legal requirements to be declared winner of the Borno governorship election that was contested by 12 political parties.
The APC also won all 28 House of Assembly seats in the elections.
