The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday, December 4, affirmed the death penalty imposed on Maryam Sandra, for killing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, in November 2017.

Maryam Sandra had been sentenced to death for the murder of her husband on November 19, 2020.

Justice Yusuf Halisu of the FCT High Court in Maitama, Abuja, had in his judgement delivered on January 27, 2020, held that circumstantial evidence proved that Maryam “fatally ” stabbed her husband to death in Abuja on November 19, 2020.

Meanwhile, Maryam, a mother of two, had on February 19, 2020, filled 20-ground notice of appealing, praying for her acquittance and an order discharge.

Maryam contended that the judgement convicting her was tainted by prejudices and bias resulting in denial of right to fair hearing.
