A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Apu J. Tonkiri has declared himself fit to lead the party in the Council.
This is as the former Burutu Legislative Arm member insisted that the PDP needed “a consistent, stable and a unifier to lead the party”.
The frontline aspirant for the PDP chairmanship seat in the forthcoming party congresses said this during a media chat with newsmen in Asaba, the Delta State capital following a consultative meeting with Rt. Hon. Chief Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Apu, a firm advocate of unity, integrity, and honesty, said “The PDP, the outright leading political party in Burutu Local Government Area has suffered a terrible disunity in the recent past due to some unstable characters in the party.”

He further said, “The political game as we all know is about interest but the ability to accommodate, harmonize, and carry along the different interests of leaders and stakeholders by the party leadership makes the party always united and stronger.”
Apu stressed that “as the umbrella of the PDP is big enough to cover as many as possible, so also will his administration accommodate, and cover the interests of members in the party if given the opportunity.”
He concluded by saying that “my administration will bring respect and sanity to the party. We will ensure that the Burutu chapter of the party will regain her lost glory and have her full feet back on the ground in the local government Area.”
