Army Repels Bandit Attack on Base in Niger, Scores of Attackers Killed

Army personnel in Niger State successfully repelled a bandit assault on their base in Babanna, Borgu Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of several attackers.

“During the exchange of gunfire, scores of the bandits were neutralised. The bandits were able to evacuate nearly all the bodies, leaving a single one behind,” a military source confirmed.

According to Makama, soldiers have been placed on high alert in the area, and conditions have remained fairly stable following the attack.

Security sources reassured residents that the military, alongside other security agencies, is maintaining close surveillance to prevent any further attacks.

Gunmen have abducted Pastor Ayodeji Akesinro, a staff member of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Owo, Ondo State, from his home in Upenme, Owo Local Government Area.

The armed men reportedly stormed his residence at around 7:00 pm on Thursday, forcibly taking him to an unknown location.
