Mikel Arteta, Arsenal head coach is considering a shock move for Liverpool midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal have shown interest in resigning the Kop midfielder in the January transfer window on a free deal.

The 28-year-old star had a six-years spell at the Emirates before joining Anfield in 2017 in £35million deal.

Chamberlain, whose deal with Liverpool expires in 2023 is hoping to make a move having been frustrated at his current club.

Following 2019 Liverpool’s first Premier league title win, the former Arsenal player had only been given scanty playing opportunity.

The English International has now given a thought to reunite with his former friend Arteta in the January transfer window.

Recall that Arteta and Chamberlain were teammates under Arsene Wenger before Arteta parted ways with the club in 2016 and Chamberlain did same the following year.

Chamberlain who has been battling with a knee injury was ruled out for four month last season and he has only started four games for Liverpool since.

The player would be given an initial six month loan trial at Arsenal, with a possible permanently deal next season.
