Arteta Still Hopeful for Manchester City Stumbles in Premier League Title Race

Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is holding onto hope that Manchester City might slip up in the Premier League title race.

Despite City having a game in hand, Arsenal has won their last three league matches, maintaining a one-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s team at the top of the table.

Arteta highlighted that there are still plenty of points to play for in the final stretch, and Arsenal can keep up the pressure by winning their upcoming match against Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off.

He’s hopeful, with all his “heart and soul,” that City could falter in their remaining four games against Wolves, Fulham, Tottenham, and West Ham.

Arteta emphasized that to keep their title chances alive, Arsenal needs to focus on their own performance and preparation, ensuring they win their games, regardless of how City performs.

He also noted that managing emotions is crucial during this tense part of the season.

“In my heart and in my soul… this is what I am hoping for, yes,” Arteta told reporters when asked if City will drop points.

“You know what is going on [with my emotions]. You just want to win and to win you need others to drop points and you are hoping for that to happen.

“And then [after City win] you have to manage your emotion, because it doesn’t matter what happens on that day.

“There are still a lot of games and points to play for. You are going to have to perform, prepare and win the next match in order to maintain that momentum. This is what we are trying to do.”
