The decision follows an overnight meeting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC), which concluded at 4:00 am.
Prof. Chris Piwuna, ASUU National President, explained that the strike, initially launched over government delays in meeting union demands under the 2009 agreements, has now been reviewed due to renewed negotiations.
“We’ve had useful engagements with government representatives regarding the draft renegotiation of the 2009 agreements. While progress is still required, NEC resolved to suspend the strike to acknowledge efforts by students, parents, and the Nigeria Labour Congress,” Piwuna stated.
