Atalanta Succumb to 3-2 Home Defeat Against Milan

Ac Milan has closed gap with leaders Napoli following survival of a late Atalanta comeback to earn a 3-2 victory on Sunday night.

Stefano Pioli’s side have beefed up their Serie A title credentials after last night away win against Atalanta at Gewiss stadium.

Davide Calabria, Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leao netted for Milan, while Duvan Zapata and Mario Pasalic scored for the hosts.

It took the visitors just 28 seconds to open the scoring as Davide Calabria converted a corner to goal following his 1 on 1 miss.

The home-team trying to equalize piled on the pressure which however, could not make several chances count.

Sandro Tonali caused Atalanta to rue their wastefulness as he doubled his side’s advantage few minutes to half time.

Rafael Leao in the 78th minute then put Stefano Pioli’s side’s win beyond all doubt as he utilized a fine pass from Theo Hernandez to 3-0.

Milan’s Lombardy neighbours Atalanta put up their efforts to upturn the 3-0 loss but it was too late.

Duvan Zapata got the hosts back into the race as he found his name first on Atalanta’s scoresheet in the 86th minute.

Mario Pasalic finally converted Zapata’s cross to double his side’s goals in the injury time and the match brought to a halt after the blowing of the final whistle.

With two points behind Milan who sit in the 2nd place, Napoli occupy the top of the Italian table.
