Serie A Could Secure Six Champions League Spots Following Atalanta’s Europa League Triumph
Atalanta’s impressive 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final on Wednesday has positioned Serie A to potentially claim six spots in next season’s Champions League. Ademola Lookman’s stunning hat-trick led the Italian club to their first major trophy since 1963.
Prior to Atalanta’s win, Italy and Germany had already secured a fifth Champions League spot due to their higher coefficient rating. With Atalanta’s victory, Italy is now poised to earn a sixth UCL place if they can maintain their current fifth position in the Serie A standings.
Roma, who are guaranteed to finish sixth, would then enter the Champions League as the fifth league qualifier.
