Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has faulted US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken over a telephone conversation to Bola Tinubu.
Blinken had during the call with Tinubu on Wednesday assured the Nigerian President-elect of the US’ commitment to further strengthening the the relationship between both countries with the incoming administration.
In a statement on Wednesday, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 presidential election, described the conversation between Blinken and Tinubu as ‘inconceivable’.

Atiku labeled the call as a contradictory to the official position of US over the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
He said;
“I am in disbelief that Secretary Antony Blinken called Tinubu, a contradiction to the publicly stated position of the US on Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
“This is inconceivable considering that America, as the bastion of democracy, is well briefed on the sham election of February 25.

“To give legitimacy to the widely acknowledged fraudulent election in Nigeria can be demoralising to citizens who have hedged their bet on democracy and the sanctity of the ballot.”
Daily Report Nigeria recalls Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the controversial poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Several petitions and litigations have since greeted the declaration by INEC in the aftermath of the election.
