The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday met with top Nigerian leaders including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd).
The political gathering occurred during the 70th birthday celebration of Alhaji Adamu Muazu, former Bauchi State governor and one-time PDP National Chairman. Other key figures present included former Kaduna State governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, NNPP National Leader Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and other national stakeholders.

In a statement released via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, Atiku stated:“Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu…”
He praised Muazu for his commitment to national development, recalling their joint efforts between 1999 and 2007 in laying the groundwork for governance reforms and private sector-driven economic policies.
“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Muazu and other governors… to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria,” he added.
