Youths across the country have been urged to avoid being used by politicians ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Dahiru Abubakar, Convener, Dialogue and Conflict Mediation, stated this while speaking at a one-day lecture organized by Munzaifad Care Foundation in collaboration with Cardinal John Onaiyekan Foundation, urging youths to avoid violence and work for the country’s peace and unity.

Abubakar said the upper-class people would usually instigate such violence that they would not go, or send their children.

According to him, they (politicians) would simply organize the lower classes to begin harassing others, claiming that if they did not use their children, they must stop destroying other people’s children.

“Politics is a game of numbers,” the Convener believes. Come out and get your own number; it is not a game of violence.

Alhaji Abdullahi Hussaini, who also advised the youths, stated that youths were the most vulnerable and that much work was needed to ensure their protection.

According to him, the era of using motorcycles to empower people and dupe them into criminal activities should be over, and he calls on politicians to change the narratives for a better future for the country.
