Afrobeats star Ayra Starr is making her debut in Nollywood, joining the ranks of musicians venturing into acting. The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated singer is set to appear in Prime Video’s original film Christmas In Lagos. This romantic comedy features a star-studded cast including Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold.

The film tells the story of Fiyin, played by Aladese, who, after a recent heartbreak, becomes convinced that her best friend Elo, played by Obiago, is her true love. Directed by Jadesola Osiberu, Christmas In Lagos was filmed in Lagos and showcases the vibrant city as its backdrop.

Osiberu expressed her excitement about casting Ayra Starr, saying, “Ayra Starr represents what it means to be young, female, daring, brave, and fearless. She was on the list from day one.” The movie also features cameos from other musicians such as Wurld and Liya, with a soundtrack that includes music from legendary artist Sunny Ade and Afrobeats stars Flavour and D’banj.
