Ayra Starr Makes History as First Nigerian Female Artist on U.S. Billboard 200 Chart

Ayra Starr has made history as the first Nigerian female artist to enter the U.S. Billboard 200 Album chart. Her sophomore album, ‘The Year I Turned 21,’ debuted at No. 195 on Monday.

Billboard charts tweeted: “Debuts on this week’s #Billboard200: No. 195, @ayrastarr The Year I Turned 21.”

The album also became the first project by a female Nigerian artist to debut on the UK Official Album chart, landing at No. 80 in the UK and No. 72 in France.

Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ holds the record for the highest-peaking Nigerian album in the U.S. at No. 14 and is the first Nigerian album to top the UK album chart.
