The Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, has said that bad roads and high rate of unemployment are fueling insecurity in some parts of the state.

Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye adviced that job opportunities should be provided in order to deter able-bodied Nigerians from engaging in crimes.

Adeleye, who made this known while parading some suspected criminals in Akure, the state capital, emphasised that the deplorable Owo-Benin highway at the Ifon axis had been aiding the activities of kidnappers.

According to him: “We have issues of kidnapping and robbery around the bad portion of the road between Owo and Ifon.

“Our men are always in the forest to curtail the excesses of these criminals who want to take advantage of this bad road.

“To put a stop to it, the Federal Government should quickly repair this Owo-Ifon road and make it pliable for commuters in order to reduce crimes in Ondo State.

“I think the government should provide elaborate job opportunities; we all know the economic situation of the country is harsh and tough. In view of this, the government should increase the palliatives to even those that cannot feed.

“The palliatives should be for those who find it difficult to feed themselves. There should be social insurance for the jobless to feed them. Once they can feed, we can now ask them why they go into criminality.”
