Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has hit Chelsea star, Jorginho on his face following his nomination for the 2021 ballon d’Or award.
He disdainfully said the Blues’ midfielder was not supposed to be one of the nominees for the prestigious award.
The 42-year-old added that he found it dumbfounding seeing the Italian midfielder on the list of favorites for the accolade.

Meanwhile, the former Napoli star has stood out among the rest of Chelsea players nominated for the award.
Besides, no other player in Europe won as many titles as he did last season and he played every minute of the Euro 2020 for his countryside.

The 29-year-old has won the Uefa Champions League in May, Euro 2020, the European Super Cup, and the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.
Yet, the television pundit for BT Sport, Ferdinand, held that he should not have been named among the leading contesters for this year’s Ballon d’ Or.
Ferdinand told BT Sports: “The Jorginho one baffles me.”
“He’s not the best player at Chelsea and he’s not the first name on the teamsheet with Italy either.”
The six premier league titles winner with Man Utd added: “I don’t see how he gets on the list with those players at the level those guys have been playing at.”
“It baffles me. Putting him up against the four other players there doesn’t really make sense to me.”
Other Chelsea players shortlisted for the ballon d’ Or include: Cesar Azpilicueta, Ngolo Kante, Romelu Lukaku, and Mason Mount.
