Banditry: Zamfara Reopens More Markets, Shops

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle of Zamfara State, has approved the immediate reopening of business activities in some shops in the State capital and weekly markets.

The markets include Hanya shops, Lalan shops, Garejin Mailena shops, while Badarawa – Jangebe junction, Colony Junction, Shinkafi – Zurmi junction, Tashar Maduwa, among other markets would also be reopened on same condition.

According to a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Kabiru Balarebe, the shop owners would not accommodate any form of attachment in their shops and that no trailer or heavy duty truck would park except to offload wares and leave afterwards.

The statement added:  “food vendors within the area will also be screened and all activities at Kwanar Mailena should end by 8 pm, while those at Lalan should end by 10 pm daily.

“The Task Force on Security will be monitoring the areas to ensure full and proper compliance.”
