A gang of armed bandits have attacked and laid waste to people during an attack in Katsina.
The attack, which was reported to have happened in Gidan Boka village, Kankara LGA on Sunday , June 9 at about 3pmwas confirmed to have claimed not less than 26 lives.

Confirming the attack, the Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, released a statement yesterday 10th of June, saying that the bandits were armed with dangerous weapons, and attacked Gidan Boka village, killing 20 villagers and injuring two others.
In the statement, he also added that a police patrol team while resbponding to the distress call was ambushed by the bandits m near Kurmeji village via Yar Goje.
“The slain security personnel include three police inspectors, one corporal, and two members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps,” the statement added.
He added that the bandits reportedly killed five more people while escaping through Dan Nakwabo village.
The state commissioner of police, Musa Aliyu, expressed condolences to the families of the victims and vowed to work with relevant stakeholders to apprehend the perpetrators.
He added that additional deployment of police force to the area has been made to prevent further attacks.
