Bandits Demand N250m Ransom For Kidnapped Students in Zamfara

Bandits who abducted about 15 students and a staff of the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura in Zamfara State, have demanded a N250 million ransom for their release.

Provost of the College, Alhaji Habibu Mainasara revealed to newsmen that the bandits called him to make the demand.

“They needed N250 million for the 20 people currently in their captivity,” Habibu said.

“They said that the money must be paid before they could release the staff and the students they kidnapped in my school,” he added.

The Provost however refused to speak on who is to pay the Ransom; whether the families of the kidnap victims or the state government.

Spokesperson for the Zamfara state police command, Mohammed Shehu, when contacted, stated the Command was not aware of the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.

“We are not aware of this development but we are doing our best to rescue the kidnapped victims,” he said.
