Tension has once again gripped Patigi Local Government Area in Kwara State following the killing of a father and his son by armed bandits on Thursday night. The victims, identified as Mall Shaba, a logistic vehicle driver, and one of his sons, were reportedly ambushed while travelling along the Gadabuzuwa-Agboro road.
Sources revealed that Shaba had left his home in Gadabuzuwa to meet a business client in Agboro when he ran into the bandits. Eyewitnesses confirmed that Shaba was accompanied by his two sons at the time of the attack. Unfortunately, while one of them was killed alongside his father, the other managed to escape into the bush.

“They were attacked and killed along Gadabuzuwa-Agboro road,” an eyewitness recalled. “They were shot dead on the spot.”
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, with a local traditional ruler who spoke on condition of anonymity, calling for urgent government intervention. He expressed frustration over repeated attacks in the area and accused bandits of hiding among Fulani residents.

“We know the armed forces are trying their best, but they should please do more,” he said emotionally. “Each time our hunters chase the bandits, they run into Fulani settlements for cover. We are tired of dying in silence; there should be a way out of this suffering.”
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army recently deployed more troops to Kwara South and North to intensify the fight against banditry and insecurity in the region. Locals, however, are calling for immediate action to protect lives and restore peace to affected communities.
