A tragic incident occurred in Katsina State on Tuesday morning, as bandits attacked the residence of Dr. Tiri Gyan David, a lecturer at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), killing him and abducting two of his children. The attack happened around 1:30 am in the Yarima Quarters, Low-Cost Estate, Dutsinma Local Government Area.

An eyewitness described the incident to Channels Television, saying, “The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community, shooting sporadically to scare residents.”

The Katsina Police Command spokesman, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, saying, “A detailed statement will be released soon.”

Dr. David was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at FUDMA. His killing and the abduction of his children have sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in Katsina State.

Recall that Dutsinma is one of the ten security frontline local government areas in Katsina State, facing frequent bandit attacks despite efforts by the state government and security agencies to restore peace.
