Fresh attacks by bandits have left two people dead and dozens kidnapped across parts of Kaduna State, with residents describing the violence as relentless and unchecked.

According to reports by Sahara Reporters, one of the victims is Mrs. Averik Arak, an elderly woman abducted alongside her granddaughter in Arak village, Sanga Local Government Area. Her abduction came just 48 hours after bandits killed her son, Habila Averik, and another resident.

Witnesses said Mrs. Arak was still mourning her son, who was killed in her presence along with his wife and daughter, when the attackers returned late Monday night. She was reportedly ill at the time of the abduction.

In Kajuru Local Government Area, bandits stormed Unguwan Sarki Maro, kidnapping 15 villagers, most of them children. A separate attack in Kadage village, Kauru Local Government, saw 16 people abducted and one person killed.

A resident of Kadage said the scale of the crisis has been largely ignored.

“Between December 1, 2025, and January 4, 2026, more than 100 of our people have been taken by bandits across seven villages,” the source said, lamenting what he described as a media blackout.

The violence extended to Kachia town, where bandits reportedly killed four members of the same family during a late-night attack near the newly established Federal University of Applied Science.

The victims were identified as Mr. Bitrus Bahago, his wife Justina, their son Ibrahim, and a relative, Adam Waziri.

“They were all killed by the bandits,” a family member confirmed.

Residents said the attackers arrived in large numbers, opened fire indiscriminately, and injured several others, who were later rushed to hospitals.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had not issued an official statement.

Southern Kaduna has faced persistent bandit attacks in recent years, with communities repeatedly urging the federal and state governments to urgently strengthen security and protect vulnerable residents.
