Former Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring early from the penalty spot after Ronald Araujo clumsily brought down Isaac Romero in the box. The veteran Chilean sent goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny the wrong way to put Sevilla ahead.
Romero, who had already missed two good chances, doubled the lead soon after with a composed finish from Ruben Vargas’s assist, leaving Barcelona’s defense wide open. The visitors found a lifeline before halftime when Marcus Rashford volleyed in Pedri Gonzalez’s cross, marking his first La Liga goal and sparking hopes of a comeback.
In the second half, Hansi Flick made changes, bringing on Eric Garcia and Alejandro Balde in a bid to tighten up his team. Sevilla, however, continued to push forward, with Szczesny forced into several saves to keep Barcelona alive.
The crucial moment arrived when substitute Adnan Januzaj fouled Balde inside the box, giving Barcelona a penalty. Lewandowski, usually reliable, stuttered in his run-up and dragged his shot wide of the post, missing the chance to level the score.
Barcelona’s failure to capitalize proved costly as Sevilla regained control. Carmona drilled home a powerful low strike, and Adams sealed the result with a late finish to complete a memorable night for the Andalusians.

With this result, Barcelona sit second in the table, two points behind Real Madrid, while Sevilla move provisionally into fourth. Flick’s side will need a quick response to keep pace in the title race, but this defeat raised fresh concerns about their defensive fragility and lack of sharpness in attack.
