Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, has attributed the party’s loss in the 2023 presidential election to a failure to zone its ticket to the southern part of Nigeria.

Speaking on Thursday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television, Mohammed described the 2023 experience as a “learning process” that proved costly for the party.

“Life is always a learning process. When we did it in 2023, it was not a pleasant experience, and that was why we lost,” he said.

Mohammed’s revelation comes against the backdrop of the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) decision to zone its presidential ticket to southern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections, signalling a deliberate attempt to avoid repeating past errors.
